Q2 Divestment - Why has Intertrust been sold
The current shareholders of Intertrust believe that it is no longer necessary for their respective banking businesses to own a captive trust business in order for their clients to have access to top quality services in this sector. In addition, both FBN and BGL want to focus on their respective core banking activities.
The consolidation of the trust sector is expected to accelerate. A new owner of Intertrust, together with Intertrust management, is expected to capture the resulting opportunities in the trust sector in a more dedicated manner than FBN and BGL.
Lastly, both FBN and BGL expect to see continued and possibly expanded use of their banking services by Intertrust’s clients.
