Intertrust

The Curaçao office (active since 1952) is one of the oldest in the network of
Intertrust offices and can assist with different types of international structures: investments, finance, holding, funds, e-commerce, asset-protection etc. Historically there is a very close connection with the Netherlands but given its geographical location Curaçao is also an interesting jurisdiction for North and South-American countries. The civil code of the Netherlands Antilles offers reliable, international-oriented and flexible legislation for companies and foundations. As a result of its history as a financial services industry, Curaçao is home to reputable lawyers, accountants, notaries and fiscal advisers who are usually educated in the Netherlands. There is vast competition in each of these areas of professional services, which ensures good quality, service, professionalism and reasonable prices.

Economy overview

The Curaçao economy is mainly a tourism, trade and services economy. Most companies registered by the Chamber of Commerce are active in Wholesale and Retail Trade, Hospitality, Financial and Business Services, and Transportation & Communication.

Curaçao's capital, Willemstad, is more than quaint pastel-colored buildings. It is also a big, bustling port (and the largest dry dock in the region). Huge ships sail right through downtown. Cruise ships dock at the mega pier and tourist enjoy strolling and shopping along the waterfront in Punda and Otrabanda. A large part of the traffic revolves around the island's large oil refinery, which has helped Curaçao become one of the more prosperous islands in the Caribbean.
The Netherlands provides financial aid to support the economy.
