Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with purpose in Hong Kong 2020
18 September 2020
Building on the success from last year’s CSR initiative, we are delighted to launch our 2020 “Celebrating with Purpose” campaign to mark the Mid-Autumn Festival in Hong Kong.
In the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, we’re proud to partner with St. James’ Settlement, a charitable organisation in Hong Kong, to support those disadvantaged communities who have been impacted the most by the pandemic.
Helping the vulnerable and supporting our environment
This year, rather than buying mooncakes for our colleagues and clients, we are donating to FOOD-CO, the first tech-enabled food support services platform in Hong Kong run by St. James’ Settlement. Our donation will provide food packs with four to five days food for close to 400 individuals. Beyond COVID, FOOD-CO helps cultivate a culture of ‘save and share’ with an aim to reducing food waste and the impact on our environment.
Volunteering for the elderly
In addition, a number of our employees are volunteering in “Caring Call” services for senior citizens over the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Caring Call service helps elderly members of the community without a support network stay connected. Our volunteers will provide support and care amid the pandemic, while sharing the festive spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Making a difference for our community
“In these difficult times, it is more important than ever for organisations like ours to work in a positive way in our communities.” James Donnan, Managing Director of Intertrust’s Hong Kong office said. “Hong Kong was amongst the first regions hit by COVID-19 and we hope our CSR actions make a difference. We are especially grateful to partner with St. James’ Settlement again this year, bringing our clients and stakeholders closer together to celebrate the Festival in a way that helps support both our community and the environment in which we live and work.”
About FOOD-CO
In June 2016, St. James’ Settlement was awarded by the Hong Kong Government’s Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund to run FOOD-CO, the first IT platform for food support service in Hong Kong. FOOD-CO aims at facilitating food donation in a more efficient way with advancement in technology and data analysis.
